About Late Summer Lectures

The Late Summer Lecture Series  is an outreach project run by PhD students from the Department of English Studies at Durham University, consisting of a series of eight lectures held annually at Alington House in Durham.

The Series focuses on presenting current postgraduate and post-doctoral research into literature and culture in an accessible fashion to a wider, non-specialist audience, and features research from academics across the North East.

This year’s lecture series (2017) focuses on the theme of Change, presenting new and exciting interdisciplinary approaches to literature. We hope to engage and interact with both the academic and non-academic communities in Durham and across the North East, and to increase awareness within these communities of English Literature as a study in a larger cultural context. The lectures are intended to stimulate positive communication, engagement, and discussion between academic speakers and our primarily non-academic audience.

We look forward to seeing you there!
